Everything you need to know about getting your Tanzania Visa.
Most travelers can apply for a Tanzania tourist visa online before travel. The process is fully digitalized and helps avoid long queues at airports. Please ensure you only apply through the official government portal to avoid scams.
The online application requires a scanned copy of your passport photo page, a passport-sized photograph, and copy of your return flight ticket. Approval usually takes 2 to 3 weeks.
Visas are also available upon arrival at major international entry points, including Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) in Dar es Salaam, and Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ) in Zanzibar.
To get a visa on arrival, you must queue at the immigration desk, fill in a visa entry card, pay the fee in cash (USD only), and have your biometric details captured. Please bring exact cash denominations as change is rarely available.
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into Tanzania. It must also have at least two blank consecutive pages for stamps. Ensure your passport is in good physical condition with no tears or severe damage.
